Thunderbirds News · Winter Sports on Hold

Due to recent events concerning COVID-19, Governor Herbert new state mandate which sees our state of Utah under a “State of Emergency” protocol. Here is a copy of the letter to all Winter Sports Coaches, from Timpview AD Wendy Anae outlining what our school will be doing to stay within the guidelines set by our State and Local officials:

As you know, Governor Herbert released a health order that suspended all UHSAA activities with the exception of practice and games in the high school football state championships. This health order includes the suspension of practices, competitions and tryouts in all UHSAA winter activities through November 23. All other extracurricular activities are on hold for the duration of the order. As a reminder, known violations of the Governor’s Health Order could have severe consequences for our teams and school.
All team activities for winter sports are suspended through November 23 per the Governor’s Health Order, athletic periods can be used for activities like strength training, study hall or conditioning until the school day is completed.
Please encourage your student-athletes to take all the recommended precautionary actions, including wearing masks, social distancing and avoiding social gatherings. In addition, student-athletes should be encouraged to not interact socially outside of their immediate home.
Please strictly adhere to this new health order. If you have questions or need clarification, please call or text me: (801) 358-6830.
This is a good time to strategize ways you can execute practices when we return on November 24, with maintaining proper social distancing and enforcing the mask mandate. These protocols will assist in keeping your players safe and keep your teams playing.
Thank you,
Wendy Anae
